The Face of Faith

This poem first appeared in the John Milton magazine prior to its ceasing publication.

Face of Faith

Fingers flow in exploration

over the contours

of the face of faith.

Invisible miracles:

warm summer sunlight,

wind lifting damp hair,

feet splashing in a fountain’s

cool water,

the silent music of breathing…

Hands grope for a

tentative understanding,

to comprehend—the God of all life.

And in the darkness

is felt the Father’s smile curve

under an inquisitive thumb.
