A Coffee Valentine

A Coffee Valentine

I brewed your coffee
yesterday morning
but left before pouring
you a cup.

This was not enough;
a sentence incomplete,
without a verb.
Love not in full expressed.

I discard the used grounds,
rinse the pot clean
of accumulated stains,
pour in fresh water from the tap.

I grind the beans of forgiveness,
inhale the odor of love,
pour it fresh for you
into your favorite mug.
