Just Another Bush Afire

Just Another Bush Afire

All that remains: shoes.
Slide them off the feet,
fling, cast them far away.
“For this is holy ground”
bask in His radiant heat.
Wonder in the flicker of the flames.
abandon details, inconsequentials
the accouterments of material
existence.

Holiness, the crimson fire,
the crucible, the refiners art,
the fuel of His righteousness
transforms,
an alchemy: lead to gold
and what survives of a former life
is the metal on which he forges
likenesses of His Son.

  1. Very nice! Like the lines:

“what survives of a former life
is the metal on which he forges
    likenesses of His Son.”
