Tuesday, NOV 2nd: time to VOTE. Let us not take that privilege lightly.
The Right to Vote:
Suffragette, forgive me.
Your actions, your words freed my voice
to vote as I please in any or all elections.
Taken for granted our civil rights
once denied by sex and yet
the right to stand in lines at the polls
is not that old.
My grandmother remembers—
a twentieth century option for half
Listen, Thomas Jefferson.
It should have been in the Constitution.
Sisters, forgive me.
I place my ballot in the box
for you and all your daughters
for all the disenfranchised peoples
who are searching for a voice.
