Examine Me, Search Me

Examine Me, Search Me
Psalm 139:23

Put your stethoscope on God.
Place it over the breastbone of my chest,
move it slightly left.
Of course, You know exactly where.
Hear the murmurs of its rumbling:
The discontented swish of blood,
the castanets of valves:
the inflow and outflow of my life.
Listen with understanding.
Check the irregular rhythm,
the strange impulses that move me:
the stresses, the pressures that build up,
cause my heart to miss, skip its essential beat.
Gently place your Hand
at the point of maximum impact;
let the electrical charge of You
touch and steady its course, pace my life
to Yours.
