How to Digest a Parable

April is National Poetry Month. The theme of Food poems was mentioned by one of my Canadian friends. So food for the soul.

How to Digest a Parable
Mark 4:10-23

Clear the clutter.
Set a place at the table,
cleanse your palate
with a sip of time
in God’s presence.
Spoon up a serving of Word.

Take each bite slowly,
taste it with more than tongue,
mouth each syllable and phrase,
swallow, digest the sentences
one by one
until they form a fullness
in your mind.

Breathe in the aroma
of the Holy Spirit.
Absorb knowledge, wisdom.
Let it form part of who
you are.
Come back for more.
